It should, but I'd get it checked to make sure. I suppose the question I would ask is, why would you want to go that far? .050" over will give you stock 360 / 390 dimensions. If it were mine, I'd just go far enough to clean it up.
I was just curious. Was just wondering if they would bore as far as a regular 360/390 to get a 401 or 402 (whichever you prefer, which is with a 390 crank, would be 422 with a 428 crank). Me and one of my buddies found a lady (whose husband must have been a gearhead) that has 3 60's vintage Mustangs and 2 old Thunderbirds. There are 2 FE's sitting in the back yard and one is just a shortblock with a 428 CJ type oil pan on it. The other one is supposed to be a 352 Police Interceptor. It has a cast iron 4V intake (which may prove that it isn't because I think that 352 P.I.'s had aluminum intakes, but who knows maybe he just sat that intake on there). The heads are still on the block (held by one bolt) and they don't have a typical C----- or D----- casting number, just numbers no letters. Who know's how long the engine have been sitting back there out in the weather, But I think the heads and intake may be salvagable on the supposed 352. Don't know about the internals because moisture has gotten to pretty much everything. Make's me wonder what might be down in her basement...
I'd get 'em! There was an old 360 engine that I got up at the junkyard, I thought the whole thing would be one big rustball, but it was actually pretty good inside. Everything was coated in a protective coating of sludge! I mean, the engine was sitting upright, and the ENTIRE thing was filled with water / leaves. Yet, the only rust was a little on the valve stems holding them in the heads. You might be surprised.
I was more excited about the possibility of the heads being something unique and/or special. I will know more when I get to pull the heads off. Still would like to know she may have in her basement (i.e. SIDEOILER, yea right) but seriously hoping that there may be some hard to find Ford items and some good engine parts. A Tri-Power setup would be cool, (especially with an Aluminum intake, if Ford ever made Aluminum Tri-Power's), 428 crank. Don't worry though, I'm not holding my breath...
Are the numbers on the block 575063 or 5751091? If so it's a late 50's 352. They were all called interceptors at the time. Also all Ford tripower intakes are aluminum. G.
