First of all to creators of FTE great site. thanks for giving all ford guys a waterin hole. i was looking for any input on how much of a lift i need for my truck to accomplish my goals for it...right now i current drive a completely stock 95 f-150 4x4 w/ off-road package...i know this means a little suspension lift is already there...there are 2 in blocks in the rear and an extra 2 shocks up front....other than that she is pretty much stock cept for the 31x10.5 AT's i bought...looking to know how much suspension only i will need to clear a set of 35's maybe even 36's on 17 in wheels..also wondering who had the best "all in one" kit for this lift at the best price.....all input is helpful and will be considered....thanks
If you buy a kit, make sure you get one of the better ones like skyjacker. They have better axle brackets that spread the load out more evenly on the front crossmember. This is how my procomp kit is. The cheapos only have a couple bolts holding the bracket to the frame. If you run it hard you run the risk of cracking the crossmember. The drawback to the good kits is you have to drill about 12-15 holes in a heat treated frame.
if your going to lift it you may as well do a solid axle conversion and do away with the pita ifs, i did it on my 95 f-150 and love it, rides better, pulls better, looks better and the tires are not sitting like "/ \" that anymore.
It's just as easy as putting a regular lift on and cost about the same.
you find an old 79 modle 4x4 to get ALL the front end parts, then go here www.broncograveyard.com and buy the taller springs and drop brackets, then your all set besides lineing everything up and making sure the gear ratios are the same.
You can use the 95 top spring mounts, steering box and a few other parts, the best thing to do is get both the trucks side by side and do the swap.
you can't see much in this picture but heres mine
