I have searched the internet through and through for information on this code. The only information that I get from anyone is that it seems to be a shorted solenoid. No. Due to this advise, 1 dealership, and the best transmission shop in the area here later, I am $786 less on my credit card. This included 2 transmission flushes and a new EPC Solenoid. Neither of which has solved the problem. Is the next solution to look in wiring (hopefully someone has had a past experience) or to replace the ECM?
I have no info on this code, but have you checked the speed sensor. The speed sensor sends info to the ecm about when to shift, and when to downshift. The sensor is in the rear end, is easy to replace, and only costs about $15 at your local Ford dealer.
There is a comprehensive diagnostic procedure for this code in the Powertrain section of the Service CD. One would think that the dealership would have used it.
Possible faults include the EPC solenoid, the EPC circuit wiring, and the PCM.
It is highly recommended that the diagnostic procedure be followed.
