My wifes 02 Explorer XLT vibrates when you depress the brake pedal. It seems to do this more when braking from a higher speed. What could this be? I am a little hesitant to start tearing into this thing.
I'm with the fellas. Rotors for sure. Pads are cheap as is turning the rotors.
When you do the job be sure to torque the lugs down to the correct secifications (re-check after 25-50 miles). Over-torqued lugs can lead to warped rotors. Have you ever seen (some) of those garage dudes with the impact guns putting your tires back on? Yikes!
Most rotors can be turned at least once. As other posters mentioned, the key is to not overtorgue the wheels. I've been burned so many times, whenever I have tires installed, I retorgue each lug in the parking lot before I drive it home.
