Up-comming tranny problems.

I'm new to this and need some advice. I have a 04 F350 that I bought in Nov 04. It has a build date of Aug 03. I haven't any major problems except for the turbo pipe blowing off on the hiway. Fixed it myself untill dealer decided to replace the complete thube, They tried 3 times to order the clamps. Anyway,my problem started Saturday afternoon as I was pulling away from a stop light and the transmission would not shift out of 1st. It sounded like a thrashing machine under my truck! I drove like this for about 1/2 mile, started to pull off and go to local dealer to check problem, it shifted into 2nd and worked fine after that! The truck only has 10,000 mi on it. I use it to mostly tow my 5th wheel. Any suggestions? Thanks

Is it an auto tranny? It sounds like you are referring to a manual box. If it is an auto, I would suspect the planetary gear in the transmission. There is a massive recall regarding this but only after your build date. If it is a manual, I dont know.
