I have a 68 F100. It's in pretty good shape. Problem is, when carrying a load, it clunks when I hit bumps. The wierd thing is, it does not always seem to be coming from the same place. Sometimes it sound like it's by the firewall, other times the floorboards, sometimes it sound like the bed is hitting the cab (it isn't). This will happen even with a small bump, but not all the time. Without a load, I can hit huge potholes with no clunk.
Frame looks in good shape (no rust). I can't find anything loose. Where should I be looking for problems?
It may not be this but check motor and tranny mounts as well. Just to rule that out. power brake your truck and accelerate quickly while holding the brake. if the motor moves alot then you have a mount problem.
