Question Transmision problem?

I've got a 99 SD.. I've got the Banks Powerpack setup installed. I'm getting a flashing OD light after shifting into 2nd gear. I'm getting a very hard shift into 3rd gear if I don't take my foot off the gas, and sometimes a little bit of a hard **** into OD. I've talked to banks and they've walked me through the wireing of the Trans Comander and I believe that to be in correct working order. They have offered a way to bypass the Transcommander in attempts to find out if its the problem.. Until I'm able to do that I'm wondering if theres any kind of fluid I can put in the trans to hopefully clean up the vavles and what have you. Please let me know if you guys have any ideas. Thanks alot!

i have run accross this 4 times this year so far 3 times the trans needed to be rebuilt and a new solinoid pack installed the 3rd was a wireing harness needed repair on the trans right side rear the plug brakes down and needed a new pigtail watch that the small steal heat cover is still in place i figure the heat caused the deteration of the harness

you did not say if the problem came before or just after putting in the trans command. mine works awesome.
but the OD light did flash when i 1st installed it. and here is why..
the pic of the plug they show you..when you change the wire orientation is wrong..
one plug they show you from the front of the plug. and one they show you the orientation from the rear.
so i looked at it again real good and saw their mistake. so i told the tech @ banks that it was too confusing. i hope that they fixed it....probably not though.

get a scanner and see if the speed sensor(VSS) datastrea m reading is correct w/ the speedo.
if not check to see if the vss in the pumpkin is cracked or lost it's magnetizm. because of metal pieces from the diff stuck to it.
if that is okay then check to see it the speedo module is teling the pcm the wrong info.
this may even make a truck stall out(on a gas job)
the pcm though the van was going at full speed and shut off the injectors. and made it shift hard, hunting too!
this part is in the speedo head and goes in between the vss,gem and pcm. i saw this issue on an E150 last week.
\
got the speedo rebuilt (oem exchange $350) but it fixed it..
not the trans at all.

As for the Trans needing to be rebuilt I really hope I don't have to and that one of these other guys is right...

As for the speedoo... Yes I have 37's on my truck so the speedo is off right now. I haven't had a chance to get it recalibrated.. Also my cluster from when I built the truck ended up being a cluster for a Canada truck. So I have to get that replaced sometime soon to US info... That would be nice if that was the problem. How exactly was yours off? Just like 5 mph off or something??? I'm very interested to know.

As for the heat shield... I'm not sure. My budy was the one doing the work on the trans as I was helping acuse I'm not the most knoledged in these departments.. I'm just learning.... As for the grease.. no we didn't use any when we reconected everything... Should I maybe go back through and try using some?

I'm not sure what the best way to determain what I should do next is... So if you guys read this and it helps u advise me to the next step that would be very helpful.

Thanks for the info though!

Derek

it was not my truck it was a customers van.
the speedo should be consistant. even though you changed the tires.it does not matter. make sure it reads properly..go faster ...the vss GOES FASTER. AND DOES NOT JUMP AROUND.
when sitting it should read 0mph. if not i would check the VSS in the diif as i already stated.
you are going to need to bring it to a shop w/ a good scanner.
i cannot tell you how to fix it w/ out a schematic and a scanner. w/ the truck. so bring it to a shop man!!
