Respect

BigDash,

At the risk of sounding like a preacher....
I am "hearing" a lot of the guys in this thread complain about their wives.
It is amazing, but true, if you LISTEN to your wife, she will begin to LISTEN to you also.
Sometimes a note near the project will let her know you are out getting supplies, and that you didn't drop the ball...

"Grant to me a faithfulness
In what I say and do
So others will be confident
That I will follow through." - D. De Haan

Or maybe wedding vows for the bride should include the phrase "I promise never to touch your damn tools and realize that if I do you'll back hand me across the room."

Merely an Observation

Silver Streak -
Never mind, I can tell YOU AREN'T LISTENING.
Re your earlier post: Try to find a business that specializes - we have a place called Fire & Fasteners in Anchorage. Everything from 4-ft drill bits to trailer hitches to Grade 8 hardware - they got it all, in the quantity YOU request. Fair prices and literate employees - my favorite combo. Try not to buy CHINESE / TAIWANESE / MEXICAN products, they are made of inferior materials.

Defective -
Nice try at a "save." Sounds like you met a good lady with a sense of humor. Keep on truckin'.

First of all, quit yelling. Second of all, what the hell are you talking about? I haven't made a single post directed at youf and don't see why you feel the need to attack me. It sounds like you are the one that isn't listening. I said in my post I didn't like to buy hardware at the parts store, but at midnight on Sunday there isn't much choice. Go back and read some things yourself before you jump down my throat about something.

Save what?

This is what happens when democrats are in control. Its rediculous. I say booby trap it, and protect your property. Its not like you have armed guards standing there ready to shoot thieves. After all you can't shoot somebody to stealing something. But you surely can deter them from getting in. Just like I should be able to conceil a gun to protect my family if I need to. I bet nobody would break into your garage if they knew you were packin! Fight it man!

And MONSTERBABY....what if you have a sign that warns any possible intruders? I'll even get it in 3-4 different languages if they want.

NO NO NO! Don't give in! put the sign in only one language. America speaks English. Pisses me off when I was at the bank yesterday. There was a sign there I coudln't read. So I asked the teller what it said. She said it was the same thing as the sign in english next to it, so I asked why. she said there are a few spanish speaking customers. . . and I asked. . . "travelers?" and she said no. That really pissed me off. If you are banking in America, living in Amercia, working in America. . . speak the DAMN language! I work siding temporarily, and it drives me nuts to hear the drywallers inside speaking spanish. Puts me in a really bad mood. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with legal immigrants. one of my favorite movies is about mexico, and my girlfriends uncle is from Mexico, but he is a citizen, pays his taxes, and employs Americans. I could go on forever about this. So I won't, unless somebody really wants me to

Guess I need to clarify, and, I apologize that you thought I was in attack mode - not intended.
I have four buddies who are in various stages of marital repair and/or post divorce recovery. I was sharing the idea of respecting women. I learned, almost too late, that this is the key to healthy long-lasting relationships -you know, like Grandma and Grandpa who were married 75-plus years, and always spoke kindly of their mate.
Forgive me?

The worst is when your neighbors help theirselves to "your stuff" and never return it. I live in a rural area- I guess what is mine is theirs. Funny when I go to their homes I see my tools that they never asked or told me they "Borrowed"-- loose term for stealing. If they do return it -- which is rare, they hide it and it takes forever to discover where. I need a pitbull with a bad attitude......

You have got to be kidding me!?!!!! Where are you located? Tear the signs down, make noise about it. Something has to be done to stop this. They won't stop at street signs I guarentee that. Everybody is too worried about offending someone even know the someone is in the wrong. You got a ford right? nail those bleepin signs down!

i agree with u guys about takin down the signs that arn't in english but i would advised against it unless u know the local cops cause i have been on the recieving end of takin out a few signs granted at the time i didn't know what i was doing but like all the older folks say to me your young and stupid hahaha on another note where i live i am the minority and i am white its really sad when everywhere u go doesn't matter what type of establishment it is theres always 2 or 3 people that only speak another language besides english it pisses the hell out of me

AK Dad you seem to be very wise... But, this therad is about pet peeves. I for one an a newly wed and I love my wife to death (as of now) I am a very good listener but there are just some things that she does that I don't care for. One of them happens to be her moving things I am working on/with. not trying to rag or say she dosen'd to anything nice for me but that isnt what the thread is for? Right, Now if you started a thread asking how much these guys love there wives there would probablly be a much different story!

AK Dad, if there was no intent on your part, I retract my statement. However, I feel the need to say that when you start a post by singling someone out, then make an accusatory statement that implies ignorance or indifference, and top it off by offering advice that the guy who was singled out said he already did you are going to get unfavorable reactions from most people. I notice now that you are a relatively new member of the forum and might not be aware of some of the unwritten rules of the forum. One of the biggies is that writing a phrase in all caps is yelling. One or two words can sometimes be capitalized for emphasis, but a whole phrase is yelling.
