yes 87- 96 will work for styleside, if is stepside you will need 92-96. you can go online to www.lmctruck.com and request a free catalog. the come in handy when you need information like this and of course you can order parts there too. but they are a little expensive but i am not sure if they are ford parts or not.
Yes, LMC has a Ford Truck catalouge, I have it sitting in front of me right now, and there not too bad, a little more than JC whitney, but its the shipping that kills, $100 to ship a bedside?? on top of the normal shipping?
they are probly the same quality however, as jc whitney.
Here is a cheap way to lock your tailgate to your truck. I just used a hose clamp and put it around the tailgate hinge on the passenger side, with the screw facing down when tailgate is open. You have to be under the truck to unscrew it. You can access it between the bumper and the bedside.
I've never had my tailgate stolen so it would probably be a hassle to me alone to do the hose clamp thing. Besides, if I did, someone would immediately come along and steal it anyway.
I don't know about "every" replacement part being genuine Ford. I like Bosch plugs, Taylor wires, MSD coil, K&N filter etc. I might use an aftermarket fender but aftermarket tailgates are defininately weak. They're also light weight FWIW. You can try adding one of those diamond plate protectors to add structural strength but it won't keep you from denting the thin skin. It would probably end up costing the same as an OEM tailgate anyway.
Texasguy001, thats the same thing i did, cheap and effective, Im sure if someone wanted it they would take it, but at least it would take longer to get.
