Environmentalists do not want you to fill your tank to the top. They feel that you are releasing "HARMFUL" fumes into the air when you pull the nozzle out to peek in. I believe that some pumps have some sort of device on them to help eliminate the fumes coming out of your tank.

Yes, I had to install 'vents' when I had a gas station back in 1978-1979 era. They suck the fumes back into the ground tank. Or just release them out pipes ten feet in the air beside the station. The law was passed because in theory gas fumes might be harmful in concentration around the filling area. We had lots of problems with them in the early years. Now they are much better, but still proabably a stupid idea.

If people only knew what environmentalists have in store for us. There are laws that are SOO close to being passed but on hold that would make a lot of people furious. Let's just say the way it is written NOW, any engine made would require Cat backs. This is on hold now to be re-written so certain engines will not need it, but still we are looking at this MOST engines including lawnmowers.

I remeber those silly, big old clunky nossels. I would always pull the sleeve up so I could see when my tank was full. Man what a pain. We had them around here for a couple of years and they just disapered.

I really am with keeping the enviorment as clean as possible but cats on a lawn mower I have heard that they are one of the biggest poluters but it sures makes me laugh. I can see the guys that put dual cat backs, lifts and all the other things they do to thier trucks doing the same to thier Lawnboys!!!!!!

We can start a new forum about where to get cold air boxes, lift kits, rims, which exhaust sytem will give you more horesepower, and superchips

I will keep peeking in

Cats wont work on a lawnmower. Couple reasons, but that won't stop the "enviromentalists" from passing laws.

It ain't about the enviroment, it's about power.

Here in Sunny(strike that), Rainy Southern Cal you have to use electric mowers, electric weed blowers, etc. if you are in the wrong cities.
You ain't seen nothing yet.

Yep! Thankfully where I live, some of the emission laws still haven't hit yet. I should see a delay in a lot of the laws you all see.

My 05 work truck package says its a 35 gallon tank. Cost an extra $97 bucks. LOL I will have to check it out this weekend how much I can put in there. Been drivin around for 2+ weeks on the initial tank of gas and have just less than a 1/4 tank left. Should have about 600-700 miles on the 35 gal.

The most I've ever put in is 36 gallons. I have a 04 FX4 with a 35.7 gallon tank.
