broken cruise control

The cruise on my '97 PSD (E4OD) seems to have mysteriously quit working. I have checked all the fuses and buttons and they are fine. My code scanner comes up blank, so I am stumped. any ideas?

I had a sensor that was bad on my 96 I had, I think it was located on trans.? Jeff

Is the speedometer working correctly? Or is the needle bouncing around?

Not exactlly sure if the Fords use vacuum for their cruise control system. I had a D*d*e that used vacuum. Maybe something as simple as the vacuum line came off the unit.

The speedo and all other gauges work just fine - the cruise is the only thing on the truck that doesnt work. Thanks for the vac idea, but I kind of doubt that Ford uses the vacuum in the cruise since the PSD has an electronic accelerator pedal instead of a mechanical linkage (the breaks also work fine, so no vac leak).... will keep looking for problem...
