I have a 2000 Ford Excursion V10. After an "aggresive" U-turn the fuel gauge quit working and reads above full all the time. Any suggestions on what might be wrong...what to check first?? Is there a fuse on this that could be bad?

New feature... you're always full and you have one of the new "hybrid" vehicles that NEVER runs out of fuel!!!! Hey, the guage must be right.... right??
There must be debris stuck in the sensor/sender unit in the tank?? Always worth a try in trying large doses of fuel cleaner (not sure if gas or diesel) and see if you can break-up the dirt or sediment. Not sure if a fuse blows for that circuit if the gauge shows full or empty by default?
The fuel level sensor uses a float like in the back of a toilet. It's probably stuck in the up position. You can try bouncing the truck or pulling the pump/fuel sensor assembly and knocking it loose. Until then just reset your trip odometer each time you fill up.
Thanks for the comments. I agree that it's most likely stuck in the up position. I've tried to shake it loose but no luck. I suppose I'm going to have to drop the tank.
Let me know what you find. I have the same problem on my 01. My tank has a dent in it. Don't know if it loosened something in the sending unit. Was planning on dropping it this spring or summer. Mine will return to normal after a while. JOHN
