Hi all,
I know dirt can block the ABS sensores, so I blasted them with water, no luck.
Any advise on testing sensors at tne wheels and under the fluid resivore?
Thanks
Another thing to check before you go to the stealership is the ABS sensor at the rear differential (if so equipped). I've heard that they tend to clog up with chips and particles from the diff, and can cause the ABS light to go on. I'm in Kuwait right now, so I don't have access to my truck or my Haynes manual to tell you where it is or how to clean it, but hopefully someone else can. Any takers?
What bad4dr means... and by the way bad4dr ,,, Thanks for your service, we love you guys! ...............Any way he means that the VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor on the rear diff sends it signal to the ABS computer first before it gets to the PCM, and ultimately to the instrument cluster speedometer.
This is an inexpensive sensor and usually clears out a ABS light. It may be as simple as loose connector, water/mud, or broken wires.
Next most obvious is the individual wheel sensors and they are a pain but the wireing and connectors need to be checked to make sure clean, dry, and no broken wire. If all that looks good then off to a Ford tech you go...ABS computers are a little pricey.

Please Man stay away from using high pressure water on electrical stuff!
Post up a sig and let us know what truck and info please.
Thanks for helping me out on that, Fredvon. Right idea, wrong nomenclature...I hate it when that happens! I was told about said sensor by a friend before I bought my truck; he said it was the ABS sensor. I shoulda known better than to go with what he told me without verifying it first. VSS. Roger that. Anyway, it's worth a check before plunking down your hard earned money at the service department, Ran.

the front sensors are easily fouled by brake rotor filings, brake pad dust, etc. And you must be very, very careful when you clean them, the rotor has to be pulled, a stream of water won't reach. The rear sensor is a part that mounts into the pumpkin, but I had the left front, then the right front sonsors foul after I did a brake job, so it is a possibility. Use some brake cleaner, and don't bump the sensors or knock the wires off, Ken
Thanks to all who replied to my quiry. You saved me some $$$$
Ken04 you were right the right front abs sensor was covered with ashes from smow plows. It was hard as cement. Hope the helps someone.
