Talking Need some guidence!

Im going into a muffler shop on tuesday, and I still dont know what muffler I want. Its too much of a pain to put true duels, plus I dont have that kind of money. Its a stepside 4x4 truck with side exit exhaust, so staying with a single muffler will be the cheapest and easiest, and I am dumping it. I want to stick with Flowmaster, but alot of people have 40 series. I want it a little louder than that. What do you guys think would sound good, with just a single? Ive known the owner for 10 years or so, so Im getting a good deal

I converted to a "fake" dual on my 97. I had a Flowmaster installed....must be a 40 series because it's nice and mellow although you can hear the exhaust when you give 'er the gas. I love the sound of it and get compliments on the sound. I have guys tell me what's on the truck by the way it sounds.

id say your best bet would be to go with a single chambered flowmaster, thats the deepest and loudest muffler they have

Well I did it a day earlier than planned, and I LOVE IT! I got a 40 series Flowmaster, single in duel out with turndowns right out of the muffler. I also got it for a GREAT price, that I am scared to reveal here for fear of a stoning

wezol5484, I am thinking of going with the same setup you just described on my 1999 5.4L SuperCab 4x4, for the same reason as saving a little cash. I figure I can buy the muffler for around $50, get some cheap turndowns at Autozone (nobody's gonna see 'em), and take it to my little exhaust shop I use and have them weld it up. Maybe even cut out the old system myself to save a little dough. Any problems I should look out for? Also, what inlet diameter did you get? I think my truck has a 2.5" going into the stock muffler, but all I can find is a 3" inlet, maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.
