Floor dimmer switch

1985 f-150 4x4, any one ever had trouble with the floor dimmer switch .Seems when i go to push the floor dimmer switch for the bright lights the head lights go off. Doesnt do it all the time just occassionaly. Switch? How hard to replace and where to buy thanks TR

I'd say start with the switch. Any auto parts store should have it. $10 and about 10 minutes and it's replaced. Peel back the carpet from around it, and it's just 2 screws that hold it in.

Ford has a nasty habit of running all the power for the light system thru the dimmer switch. Why? Dunno. But you'll get any number of strange things develop. Anyway, drive one long enough and you'll replace the switch. As wcmo says, 2 screws and the wiring plug and you're done.

everyone runs all the headlights through the dimmere switch they get wet and carode change it out

I have to agree with all those posts BLACK. But it took me 20 minutes to replace the dimmer not 10 lol. The switch I just ordered thru a local auto parts store. Cost me $14.99 Canadian.
