Clutch Pedal Effort

I just got an 85 f-150 with a 300 6 and 4sp OD transmission.The clutch has a hydraulic slave cylinder and it takes a tremendous amount of force to push the clutch in.I've driven a lot of trucks over the years with manual transmissions and by far this thing takes more effort than anything I've ever seen.If you own a truck with a similar set up let me know if this normal or did someone put in a heavy duty pressure plate.

mine did same when I switched to 11" hd clutch. but, check the fittings for lubrication first before doing anything major.

Clutch Pedal Effort

Is the clutch hard to push all the way through the stroke of the pedal? When I first got my 84 running it had a brand new clutch and it was very hard to get in gear and hard to disengage. Turned out the firewall was cracked right through the two bolts that held the clutch master cylinder. It moved a good 1/4 inch before anything really happened underneath at the slave.

Clutch Pedal Effort

I believe that there is a updated part that you can get at the Ford dealership. It is a plate that reinforces the firewall where the clutch link to the master passes through. It keeps the firewall from flexing/cracking and allows the full stroke of the clutch pedal actuate the clutch properly.
