Well, one of my batterys has the red dot, and one is still green. What is a good battery to replace it with? I really dont want to spend an arm and a leg.
I'm in the same boat with the red dot. I decided on a pair of #65-DGN Duralast batteries from Autozone. They're 875 CCA (1000CA) with a 3 year free replacement and 8 year pro rated warranty. $69.99 ea.
I thought abut the red top Optima's, which the zone also carries, but at $140 a pop it isn't worth it to me.
I was told by a Interstate Battery guy that none of the Optima's had what it really took to start and power the diesel trucks. He told me that one of the best batteries was the Ford stock battery, and that Interstate had some good ones as well. (He did sell the Optima's and he didn't sell the Ford battery) Couldn't see him leading me astray when it only hurt his sales. I bought two Interstates for my Fifth Wheel and went to Ford for a replacement battery. Was glad that I did too. I was in the last month of my trucks warranty and they told me that they would replace the battery under the warranty. Didn't cost me anything.
Ive been racking my brain on this, and Im wondering if I replace only 1 it will wear out the new one faster. I also have a 2000 expedition, and was thinking about buying 1 new battery and putting it in that and using the good expy battery for the diesel. (if they are the same size)The pro on that would be the expy would be good to go for the wife, and Ill buy some time with mine. What do you think of that?
I would replace them both. If one went bad I would say that the other one is not far behind. I also heard that one good battery and one bad will cause the good one to go bad.
