Talking some paint advice please

ok now that i have my 05 sd/swb supercab v10 larait trim. i want to have a old school man i know hand paint it with pin stripes and some scroll work. he will also hand paint around the ford emblem on the back at the top 10 burning and bottom 4 turning. meaning i have 10 pistons burning and 4 tires turning.
i am also thinking about some air brush flame work at the bottom sides like the hd model, the truck is true blue with tan inside.
what colors should i tell him to use and what do the members think of the air brush idea?
thanks

On true blue I would go subtle, with a dark blue, with more mettallic, blacks, greys, and a lighter blue to accent.

The pin strips from the factory are stickers... if you want to paint them on you'll either have to sand down to under the clear, or paint over the clear and re-clear.. i dunno how that would work.. might look really neat... i dont know much about paint, my friend just looked into "painting" on pins strips, and we learned it was much easier to use the stickers....

i know this man for around 20 years and he uses some type of paint prep cleaner first then free hand paints with a very fine brush. no aids ever i've never had any come off on all my cars and trucks same with his lettering it's all free hand.
just that this truck is special for me and i want to make it better looking. the flames would have to be very subtile almost like he did it in flip flop.
im looking for help in making this stand out and say this is mine
ps the truck has nothing now just pure blue

The factory stripes are nearly always vinyl. BUT hand painted pin stripes are very very VERY common on custom jobs and perfectly ok. There is no need to clearcoat over them, because the paint used does not need it. Clearcoat is used to protect and add gloss to the matte basecoat colors. I'm a painter w/ 8 years experience. I think a nice heavy metallic silver would look nice, especially if he shadowed the letters and flames with a very light mettalic black. Good health to ya!

Go with the custom hand striping. You will have one of a kind. I would think subtle light and darker blues with some silver metalic. I don't think you would want the flames to jump out at you.
