I had a pretty good load of hardwood on my truck today and everything went fine with the exception of one thing, I had to make 2 trips. I couldn't get everything in the bed so I had to go back for 7 boxes. I like my Flareside but now I wish I had gotten the Styleside. This isn't the first time I have encountered this and now it is becoming a problem. Does anyone know where I can get a Styleside or know how much a new one would be from a dealer? I would also be willing to trade the bed with someone if they want a Flareside!
Well I went to the Genuine Ford Parts web site and it says $0.00, which tells me it's probably very expensive. It may be cheaper just trading your truck! Just kidding! This is a good site if you just need OEM parts though. Good luck in your search for a bed assy.
I have a trailer but I don't always have it with me when I need it such was the case with the hardwood. My truck before this was a Styleside and the only time I needed my trailer was to haul my Deere. Anyway, I miss the fullsize bed. I am also having a hard time finding a toolbox to fit the Flareside. Everyone please keep an eye out for a Styleside bed for me. I am going to check with some companies that remove the beds and replace them with utility beds. I would think our trucks are to new to be in a salvage yard but I am going to check with a few of them as well.
When you say you're wanting a Styleside now I hope you're planning on the 8' bed. I say this because there is only 6" difference in the width of the Styleside and Flareside beds. Would an extra 6" really have made a difference? Just curious.
Hey guys, I guess the color and location is an important issue. I live in East Tennessee around the Knoxville area. The color is white with grey two-tone at the bottom. I will travel if it isn't to far. As far as the size difference goes, I think it is bigger than 6 inches. I may be wrong but it does look bigger.
Too bad, my trucks silver, and about 1400 miles west of you or I'd make a deal with you.
Still, before you do anything that final, consider getting sideboards.
Ain't any wider, but the extra hite makes quite a difference.
Removable for when you want the truck look purty.
kidding aside, when I was helping someone move, back in the dark ages, about 1971, we were moving furniture, etc. a long way. I was driving a narrow bed Dodge, and my buddy had a full size Chevy truck. By using a couple of pieces of plywood I was able to carry more than he could. If you painted them to match, and kept them not too tall, they would work for those occasions when you need a few more inches.
In your bed I mean...
Dang it, I better quit while ahead.
Good luck,
Chris
