Someone may have added these to the truck. 53 was the 50th anniversary of Ford's establishment. I doubt those are legit. The F-100's had the Flathead V8 or the 215 6cyl. THat's the last year for the Flathead, except in Canada, it was 1954. They did have special items on the truck that year like the horn button. Do you have a digital pic? Post it here or send me a Private Message by clicking on my name. I've searched my parts books and there's nothing in them referring to "Packard Edition". The Packard was still being produced then, so Ford would run into trouble using the name. In 55, they were combined with Hudson I believe and they badged some Hudson bodies as a Packard. maybe someone took some emblems off this car and added them to your truck. Anyway, it's not legitimate.
Ford did make an automatic transmission for 1953. It was a column shift with a gear indicator on the steering column. The way I read your question is this: Your truck has a dash mounted shifter, or do you mean there is a badge or emblem on the dash? Either way as Barry says it is not authentic Ford. Remember how old these trucks are and how many owners they might have had and what a young guy would do to customize his truck.
I'm reading it as a truck with an automatic, which rare, but not uncommon for then. It's the "Packard Edition" That I'm answering about. Kind of tough to be sure as the punctuation in the sentences isn't there. Hopefully, I answered his question.
