Belt Positioning

My son just got a 1986 F150 4.9, no A/C. The power steering belt broke, and I picked up a new one at NAPA. I think they may have given me the wrong one. Does this belt go directly from the fan pully to the PS pulley? Crank pulley to PS? or does it go around both crank and fan and then to the PS pulley? The belt I have will only go from the crank or fan pulley to the PS. Thanks. I don't have a diagram in the engine compartment.

My '84 F-150 has the belt running between the crank pulley and the PS pump.

Also have an '83 with a V8 and air. That one looks complicated, but is a kitty-cat to work on...

Actually it should go around the crank pulley, fan/water pump, then the ps pump:

Its the alternator that should only have a belt from the crank pulley to the alt.

Mustang, you are thinking of the V8. My V8 looks like yours. Our friend here has a six.

Are you sure? The old belt broke, but when I put the ends together, it is longer than the new belt, and it looks like it can ride on both the crank and fan pulleys. Right now I have the new belt on the crank pulley going to the power steering pulley, but I haven't started the truck yet. I just don't want to damage the power steering pump. Anyone know of any diagrams online?

My old 300 had the belt from the crank to the pump, and that was it. But, some trucks did run it over the water pump also. My truck was non A/C, had 2 alternator belts(both ran over the water pump) the P/S belt, and the air pump belt ran off of the water pump pulley alone.
