E4OD speedo problem

All went well with replacing the E4OD in my 1991 F250 RWD 5.0 until it came time to connect the speedometer. My truck uses a cable and apparently the replacement transmission is a newer model that did not have the drive gear for the speedometer on the output shaft.

At this point I think I can live without the speedo but there is also a 2 wire sensor of some kind on the speedometer cable itself that seems to be reporting on the speedo cable movement.

Does this need to be connected to a sensor that goes into the speedo cable 'hole' on the new trans?

I have located a sensor that is supposedly for this purpose but I wonder is there is anything inside the trans to send the signal (reluctor?)

Any constructive suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

The e4od needs vehicle speed input to the computer to work.
The later trucks used the rabs sensor on the dif.tone ring.
You may be able to use the rabs sensor instead of the speedo cable mounted one.
The above may not be true, just what I've read.
What I do know to be fact (because I'm in the middle of an e4od rebuild) is that if you want to change the output shaft to the early speedo drive one
the entire trans. must be gutted.
