I just blew a spider gear/differential pinion. Is there a place where I can decipher the code from the tag on the diff cover? Also, I'll need to order a kit, what's the best place to get it from? Thanks.
Hey Kemical,
On my truck in sig, I have no rear ABS? (no light when I turn key) Anyways, I figured with all the junkyards full of parts(I live in the rustbelt) I'd swap in a 9". Is there any difference other than abs speed sensor on diff that I need to worry about. Speedo comes from t-case. Thanks, Dave
nothing else to worry about. I installed a 9 from an 80 bronco. it swapped right in , took about 5hrs with a few parts runs and lunch. the brake hardware from your 8.8 will swap right over to the 9" but the drums are different. i suggest just buying new one drums they are cheap. i was even able to use my stock driveline. just make sure the mounting of your rear part of drivline uses the ujoint and not the flange type.
check my superford page for pics of the swap and install of my 9"
