Like a lot of people have told me before I went to college, get your degree first (w rotc or whatever) cause its really hard to go back to school after being out for a year or more. But I guess on the other hand if you have no idea what you want, no point wasting four-five years, getting crappy grades and then graduate, you wont have any work ethic, desire of knowledge.

First off I'm not a recruiter. You can't sign up for Ranger school. You can sign up to go to the Ranger regiment. But as stated above, there's alot of training to get there, nothing gaurneteed except a shot. Once you get there, and they determine youv'e earned it, you'll get a slot for Ranger school. Is college doable in Regiment ? Well sorta of.I saw a few classes happen when we were on down cycles. One here, one there. But you ain't gonna be able to sign up for 3 or 4 classes at Harvard and complete a 4 year degree in four years at Regiment.Course you could go to UCLA(University of Colombus longside the Airport) I would be willing to bet it's the same for most Combat Arms units. Read the news, see how many are deployed, deploying, getting ready to deploy. College will come last.I know this will sound harsh, I know the recruiters sell this, but don't join the Army(Combat Arms) for college. Join for the expreince, college money, getting direction,if some college happens great, but don't count on it. Feel free to pick my brain about life in Regiment, I'm a few years out of there, but the beast don't change, and I still have good friends there. Can you get some college and eventually a degree in Combat Arms ? Yes, it just takes longer, a lot longer

Joe

I know the chances of passing Ranger school are (statistically speaking) about 50%. I am most deffenitly not joining up so I can get college paid for, we can afford it without the military. I want to join up cause its something Ive been wanting to do for as long as I can remember. Giving back to this country and to me its a career I can be proud of for the rest of my life. I would rather join up then go to college, but I know that now a days a degree is almost a must.

I've got a buddy going through Ranger school, haven't heard from him in a while, trying to figure out how he is doing. He went in right after HS started back. Good luck with the military

I was an enlisted recruiter years ago in the Navy. We would tell you about all the great options of college after you enlist. The truth is most enlisted men never get the time.

I would do college first. You will go right in as a leader and be treated with respect.

My brother did the ROTC thing when we were in college. He told our younger brother if he is thinking about the service, then that is the way to go. My brother made it to captain, got out after his five years were up. He then he head numerous high level management job offers in the service and manufacturiung sector. Now he is being groomed to run his own plant.

I was a Navy Recruiter in the late 60s and early 70s. Everything has probably changed so much that I could not give you good information.
