Fuel Tanks

Have a 68 F-250 crew cab short-wide bed. Would like to move my fuel tank from the cab to under the bed. I prefer dual tanks with fuel filler doors.

Has anyone done this? Anyone know what year and model would be the best donor for tanks, straps, mounting hardware and filler doors? Is there any chance a spare mounted under the bed would fit with all that?

This is also a popular modification for the '65 and '66 trucks. There are several options; research them to learn the best for you. Most are using a mid-60s Mustang gas tank.
You need to know that the frame dimensions are the same from '65 - '72 front to rear.
However, in '73, Ford widened the frame from the back of the cab to the rear of the frame. For this reason, a '73 - '79 in-frame fuel tank will not fit your '68. You will also find the voltages and resistances for the fuel gauges and sending units changed; I don't know when, though. You need to get a tank which will fit a sending unit which will work with your current gauges (unless you want to add a new one some how, of course.)
You will find the best options in the '65 - '72 forums.
