Recurrent GPR Failure
I have replaced my GPR 4 times in the last 4 or 5 months. I’ve had this problem since it was new. The first gpr went at about 9,000 miles. The second went at 40,000 miles. The third at about 50,000 and the last 4 have gone in the last 10,000 miles. I now have 63,500 miles. If I replace it with a new one it will work fine for a while then quit. Has anyone else had this much problem and fixed it?

Where are you getting your GPR's from? You may want to try a search on this site. I remember reading about a very heavy duty solenoid that works well as a GPR but it was many many beers ago.

Wondering if mine is toast too.
I saw a post or two here over the course of the last few days that basically said that there are two different types or styles of this relay. The older (and according to the post I read more failure prone of the two) one is oval shaped relay. The more desireable of the two is the new style, round with a gold (I think cadmium plated) bottom. Again, I'm not speaking from personal experience, but what I read in several posts on the page. I'm headed to the international dealer today to get me a new round one with the gold bottom to see if my baby will once again wake my neighbors in the early morning chill with it's distinctive song.
