94 star - replace front bumper

Anyone out there that can describe how to replace the front bumper? It appears that I need to "cut" it off. Where to start is the big question.

drive the van up to a strong power poll and wrap a chain around the bumper and poll put van into reverse and hit the accelerator peddle, hopefully you wont pull down the power poll.

if you want to remove the entire front bumper including the structure behind it (its welded on), then do as cbr900 said. lol! but if you just want to remove the covering, i wouldn't recommend that. there's 3 torx screws from the front... they can be quite difficult to break loose, so be careful not to strip the torx pattern. there's about 4 (iirc) on the bottom side of the bumper. remove those and the cover should just pull off (pull horizontally forward of the van).

If you are not sure, I would pick up a Ford manual off of e-bay or sift threw a chiltons, sometimes they do show how body parts are removed.

hahaha

As funny as it sounds that's not far from from fact. Anyway, The deal is, my son hit a guard post just about dead center. Chaining it up and reversing looks like a necessary step just to get to the pieces I need to cut away. The Cover is trash and already taken off. I'm going to the salvage yard. However they cut off that one is how I intend to weld it back on. I just don't want to cut off any of the chassis. The books show that it is bolted on and so easy to drop. Not true. The tranny cooler seems okay but the radiator is not. Anything else in there that I should worry about?

While it is bolted on you will need a cutoff disk to grind the tack welds off.

I would get a new one then remove the old one. That way you won't bend your fenders or anything else trying to pull the old one out.
