Question Sqealing noise

I have a 95 f150, it's making a squealing noise that sounds like the power steering, but the reservioir is full and it doesn't make the sound just when turning, it makes it all the time. Its not really all that loud, just enough to be noticed. What could this be?

It's a Ford. They seem to have a reputation for power steering squeels. My 96 squeels too, there's nothing wrong with it. If you have trouble steering or leak fluid worry...otherwise drive it.

I think squealing can be more than just power steering--like alternator bearings, slipping fan belt, wheel bearings, etc. I would try to figure out where the squealing is coming from, rather than just living with it.
Just my opinion...
Frank.

Power steering unit

The power steering unit has a noise more typically described as a whine. I would love to get rid of that on my '92. But, like the man said. It's a Ford. The squeeling noises I have encountered have been "fixed" with a new belt. It's trivial to swap that on my truck. Also, it's recommended every so many miles anyhow. Also, I put a Pepboys belt on my truck once. (I would like to emphasize that number). It was squeeling in under 30 days. I went to the Ford dealership and got another new one. I believe I will stick with the manufacturer on these from now on. I know this is a replace it until it stops diagnostic approach. But, there you have it.

You might check the belt tensioner on the serpentine belt. I had one go bad and it screamed all the time. I think as long as you buy a name brand belt, Dayco or Gates, you shouldn't have much problem. I would stay away from any off brands though.
