I know I should just search for the answer but I have a few different questions and I know at least one or two hasn't been answered.
I have a 92' AWD shorty and I'm looking into getting a set of ranger/exploder headers and making them fit, along with the converter assembly, then a 40 series flowmaster, then maybe a side-exit exhaust on the passanger side.
I already have a side exit exhaust, but there is no muffler there and it sounds pretty damn good. The 2 converters keep the sound down pretty good by themselves.
So, does anyone know how similer/compatible Explorer exhaust is with Aerostar exhaust parts?
It doesn't really matter much. Most headers go by engine type, and I'd stick with stock cats if that is practical for your application. The rest of the exhaust can be run any way you please. Have a shop do it for you. I is not that expensive, and the results will be fantastic. Ranger headers should work, so long as its the Vulcan engine.
You are lucky its the 4.0 (for headders anyway) as there are more companies and prices to chose from. The only headders for the 3.0 are by JBA and cost about $600.
