I'm in the market to buy a 2002 or 2003 Super Duty. I know the payload and towing capabilities of both the F250 and F350 in the year truck I want, and of course, the 350 out hauls the 250. What I would like to know from some of you folks who have had experience with these trucks is the following:
1. Is the ride different from a 250 to a 350, and how so?
2. Also, does the ride difer from 4X2 to 4X4 and is the turning radius the same?
3. Finally, what is it specifically that makes a 350 different from the 250....is it tires, suspension, frame or what that gives it more load capabilities?
Your feedback on one or all the above questions would be much appreciated.
The rider is quite different between the two. The 350 rides much stiffer. I main difference atleast between the 05 250/350 is larger tire and wheels on the 350. The rear spring rating is also more than a 1000lbs heavier. If you ever look at the two, the 250 sits almost level with no load. A 350 sits up quite a bit higher. What do you think happens when you put a load in. The 350 goes level and the 250 squats.
I don't know anything about the 2002 model. The 2003 came out with the 6.0, but I do not know if they also changed up the suspension along with the new motor.
However, if they did, I would guess that the 2003 F350 rides better than the 2002 F250. I currently have an '04 F350 CC 4x4 9.0 LB and it rides way nicer & smoother than my 1997 F250 SC LB 2wd. There is a world of difference in the suspension actions between the two.
At least in the 2003 models & up, the rear laef springs are identical, so the ride quality does not change until a load is applied, at which point the F350 rides better.
