Of course you could you would have to cut the inside fender wells and move them inward. I used to drive a British van, had a 4 banger diesel and it had dual rear wheels and they didn't stick outside the fender wells, so get to cuttin!!!
do u have to change the rear diff or make any mods to the frame cuz i want to keep my new gas tank that is between the the frame or what rims do u use? i also want to put a 6 inch susspention lift and run 38 inch tires is it posible?

I'm no expert but if I was going to do this I would get a narrowed rear end, I don't think what you currently have would work unless you narrow it, somebody else should be along
if i was to make it in to a dually i would not lift or put the tires on the truck dose any one have pics of a truck that is done like what i want to do?
I think a true dually axle leaf spring pads may sit inward more but I am not sure. There is a 78/79 truck running around where I live and it has dually wheels on the back of it. I can tell he kept the same stock 4x4 axle and the wheels do not stick out as far as one would think. Remember the inward wheel is off set inward more than the single wheel location. The hardest parts to find will be the front 4x4 dually adapters.
my 74 highboy is lifted, dually, dana 70 rear, dana 60 front w dual 38in swampers. pic in my gallery. not finished yet workin on front 60 now and power steering conversion.
