I put a Gibson cat-back on my 98 expedition 5.4. Someone told me I should reset the computer so it "learns" the new exhaust. I never heard of doing something like that before. Anyone know what that's all about?
Resetting the comp after doing any performance mod is a good idea, although you dont HAVE to do it. Just dont expect a huge difference.
In the old days of carbs, sometimes the engine would run just a little leaner due to better overall engine flow than the carb was originally set for. Nowadays, the comp will reset itself accordingly by letting it relearn all its parameters.
