Hitch Question

I recently bought a new Ranger that came with a reciever. How do I know how far of a drop on the hitch I need to get? Is there a certain distance from the ground the ball needs to be.

The drop should be such that the trailer would be level, or nearly so, while in tow.

This is the correct answer.

Height of the ball will depend on the size of tires and construction of the trailer. Drop (or lift) will depend on the height of your receiver.
