I have a 73 4x4 which I have learned is a " highboy". Being very passionate about trucks but new to the ownership relm I have a few questions. The truck that I have was originally bought as a cab and chassis. So I do not have a bed for it. What beds will fit on it? I have a one off of a 77 but they do not line up. My frame is to narrow. I measured the wheel base and they are the same so the bed will fit I think. I though about fabricating phlanges to make it work but would prefer to get some opinions on what is right. I read somwhere that the highboys have a "divorced transfer case". Can anyone enlighten me on what this is? I am also thinking about putting the air conditioner from the 77 onto my highboy will this work? The ranch that own my truck had a Dana hydraulic lift system on it to move equipment. I was thinking I could put the air conditioner right there. Any help would be appreciated.

The pre '77 F250 4x4s had a narrower frame. Your new box will work, just drill new holes in the box.
A divorced transfercase is not attached directly to the transmission. There is a small driveshaft between the two. A married transfercase is bolted directly to the rear of the transmission.
Factory a/c from any '73-'79 pickup will work as long as the brackets for mounting the compressor to the engine are for your peticular type of engine. Search through past threads for steps involved in swapping in a/c.
