I was only going to use the rear as a reference for amount of difference from side to side. I know the front do more work which equals more heat. When I brake it tracks straight....it's just the slightest pull to the right without braking. I noticed in my last post I wasn't clear about when I got the pull. This could be road conditions, thats why I'm going to use the infared temp gun to see what difference there is from side to side in rotor temp. The guy at the dealer may have been correct in that the bad ball joints were causing all my problems. So far yesterdays round trip to work and todays morning commute seem to be fine.
If you dont have any pulling during braking, I would say its the crown of the road. i shouldnt say this but late tonight go for a ride on a crowned road and cross the center line. does it now track left? or does it now drive strait or track to the right? if it does it will be your alignment.
Boy are these trucks consistant. When I hit the brakes at speed, I get a oil-can clunk which I now figure is a ball joint or bushing somewhere. It also pulls now right. I just had the front rotors replaced due to pitting, so now one of my calipers is sticking?
bananarama,
I took your advice and went to Autozone today and they deffenitely have the lowest caliper price in town.....$37. I'll hoefully put it on this weekend and see what happens. I used the temp gun this morning and evening and got about a 50 to 75 degree difference between the sides up front with the right (my pull direction) being the warmest. I got about 25 in the rear.
Well, take my advice again, spend the 37 for the other side. the right was the first to go on mine too. after I replaced it, i got a small pull to the left, I am sure you will get the same. it is always good idea to replace calipers in pairs..BNUVP yeah your caliper is a bit sticky too....
Changed both calipers last night and had to pry the right one off with a crowbar. Took your advice again Bananrama and replaced both...why not there not that expensive. Everything seems to be A-OK so thanks for the advise everyone.
