I have a 85 ford E150 with a Motorcraft 4150 4bbl, the motor is a 351W high output and I'm thinking of changing it to a Edelbrock 500 or 600CFM. A friend of mine changed his on a 460 F150 and received considerable mileage gains, can't find info at the edelbrock site if this carb will fit my manifold, I also have height restraints it being a van. It's a camping vehicle with no towing. Anyone done this conversion or advice.
I run an Edelbrock 600 w/electric choke on my 351W, but I also have the Edelbrock Performer manifold. It should be a direct swap for yours, though. You need to get Edelbrocks throttle linkage kit for the Fords to complete the setup.
I am looking to do the same thing as you. The edlebrock will fit with an adapter plate. What tranny are you running, cause if you have an AOD there will be some complications.

I have a C6 3 speed, according to the Edelbrock site the 600 with electric choke is available in cruise and power mode, you will also need to order the kit for the Ford kickdown throttle. I know several people that have these and are quite happy with them. The fact you can change the (jets) metering rods without carb disassembly is a plus as far as I'm concerned. The only thing on the site not quite clear is what conversion plate we would need, think I'll send them an email.
