E4OD tranny problem
I have a 1992 ford diesel with an e4od tranny. It no longer has a neutral. It's even in gear in park. I pulled the valve body and checked all valves using a ford rebuild manual. I couldn't find a problem. I used a different solenoid pack and put it back together. I put the rear wheels on jack stands and checked the gear changes at 1500 engine rpm. In position 1 the speedo reads 12 mph. In 2 it reads 22 mph. In D it reads 33. In neutral it reads 22 mph. In reverse the wheels lock up as if in reverse and forward. In park it's still in gear. I disconnected the wiring harness and got the readings below. 1 at 22 mph, 2 at 22 mph, D at 45 mph, and neutral at 12 mph. Does this have to be in the valve bodies or is there maybe a clutch pack frozen? I'm thinking of rebuilding anyway but would like to know what to look for. any help would be appreciated. CL Burton
