I too am having some problems. My 4x4 still works in auto mode but while in 2x4 the front axle wants to lock in intermittently. The defroster over takes the floor at higher rpm's. Upon inspection I see no appearent line problems with the naked eye. I know that there is probably a vacuum problem somewhere. Any clues as where to start. I assume that the 4x4 vacuum pulse solenoid is working properly since the 4x4 works on demand. I did blow out the hub lines and solenoid as well as a few easy access lines. Is there more weight as where to look as compared to others.<!-- / message -->

I don't think this related to the vacuum problem due to the solenoid requiring an electrical signal to supply vacuum. I would think that there's something wrong with one or both of the hublocks.

It's hard to diagnose since the vacuum lines on these trucks are trash anyway, but I would start at the vacuum cannister behind the battery and work my way inward.
Also, have you checked to see if that 90 degree ell on the throttle body (for the PCV valve) is still intact? It's hard to tell just by looking at it. You may need to take it off and inspect it.
I did look at the 90 but did not take it off. I will check it. The engine runs as smooth as silk. I did clean the 4x4 lines out as well as the solenoid. I talked to a mechanic at a Ford dealer today. He said it could be under the dash as he has found before. Thanks for your input and would gladly accept more.
