Talking 77 F250 Gas Mileage??

Hey I just got a new 77 F250 extended cab and I literally went to go get emissions and inspections on it (not even a mile drive) and then stopped at Wendy's which is about a mile from the gas station and then went home from there (its like a five minute drive from wendy's to my house), is this normal?? I have a small leak coming from my carbuerator could that be the problem? I appreciate all of your Help!

EDIT :

it dropped a 1/4 tank

P.S. GIT_ER_DONE!!!!!!!!!!

77 f250 and gas mileage do not belong in the same sentence. They are words that do not go together. You don't say how much gas you used or how far you drove but a cold engine gets terrible gas mileage.

Yeah, I don't get what you're asking is normal. Did you go through a whole tank of gas or what?

Edit: you posted before I hit post on this reply,

See where the leak on the carb is coming from, might be your accelerator pump diaphram. This will give you bad gas mileage not to mention your truck can catch on fire

It's an easy fix if thats what it is. I think you have to buy a whole rebuild kit to get that though, not sure. Usually $20-30

If the power valve is out it will get horrible mileage also. A bad ignition system can decrease mileage also.

I had a few bad intake valves and you could literally watch the gauge go down. I rebuilt my heads and went to a 4bbl with a 600 edebrock and a cam. Hopefully this helps not only in milage but pulling as well. I realize that gas milage and 77' f250 is just a dream, but I would like to see 10 driving and 6-8 pulling my gooseneck.

I have a 77 2wd F-250 with mildly built 400, 4 speed and 3:31 rear gears I get 10-12 empty and 6-9 pulling depending on terrain. That is about what I expected and it pulls like mad, although I could use a little lower gear.
