Lifted getting vibration

Hey fellas

This is my first lift kit, my first lifted truck, etc... So all of this is new. I put the superlift 6" kit on my 04 crew cab F250 6.0. I have not got an alignment yet, I will be having that done at lunch today. As for tires I am running 35x1450x16.5 super swamper radial ssr. I notice at about 70 the whole truck vibrates. Is that to be expected with a lift? Is it the tire balance, cause I am trying the innovative balancing beads in my tires. or could it be from the alignment? Any words of wisdom would be great. I did drop the carrier bearing to account for the lift since mine is a crew cab. Thanks alot guys

Start with putting stock tires back on. It's easier for the alinement, fits in regular rack. You can't trouble shot when you change so much at once.

I had mine alined at truck place, it was alot more $$$.

did you install the carrier bearing adjustments? If you have a 2 piece axle you probably need to install the carrier bearing shims......

I would put your stock wheels on to confirm that a tire is not out of balance... if it still happens check out the carrier shims....

The place I am taking it to get the alignment said they wanted it with the oversized tires. I called twice to double check. gonna be 70 bucks. As for the shims, I put the shims, 1 1/4 per the directions for a six inch lift. after the alignment if it continues I will try the stock tires and see if it is the balance, I may have to go with the old fashioned wheel weights.

You say it vibrates the whole truck at 70...when does the vibration begin? Does it get progressively worse? I assume there is no vibration at takeoff...Lastly what size rim are you running with the 35's? My initial guess would be a balancing issue.

Yeah, the whole truck seems to vibrate. Not at takeoff, and it starts about 60 or 65 vibrates progressively worse til 70 then it just stays about the same. If it is a balancing issue I suggest no one use Innovative Balancing cause then those beads dont work and I will have to go back to the old fashioned balancing.

Ugh

Rims are 16.5x12 Mickey Thompson Classic II

...if its not the tires then you may need to play around with the carrier bearing shims. After that there are a couple of things you could to such as checking to make sure your driveshaft is not out of balance, and/or replacing the 6.0 lower trans mount with the beefier 7.3 version (I believe its a $30-$35 part).

If you have your stock wheels and tires...just put them on to rule out balancing as the issue first as stated above. I am not familiar with the "Bead" balancing...Do the beads shift/move to keep the tires in balance? That being the case...is there a speed threashold to where they wouldn't be as efficient..ie 65mph and above?

I have the same lift and my my kit included an extension for the carrier bearing which is more than 1.25"-more like 2". Is the drive shaft as straight as it can be?

Vibration at higher speeds can also be caused by un-balanced driveshaft. If its nothing in the front end or tires, get your rear drive shaft balanced.

I got the Suplift 8 inch...with the carrier bearing drop bracket...At 69-70mph (78 actual speed) I get a loud whine and vibration....I'm not sure whats next but it's prolly not the alignment with yours...Solid axles usually don't get misaligned like IFS.

I just learned to stay under 80 (actual speed)

Thanks for all the help guys, this weekend I will put stock tires on to rule out that option. If that doesn't help I may add a few more shims to the carrier bearing thingy (technical Term). I would hope it isn't the driveshaft seeing as to how it wasn't banged or beaten or barely touched for that matter. Then I willl move on to the trans mount. Lordy Lordy , whoda thunk all this for a 6 inch lift, Thank God I didn't go with the 8" WHEW

Bearhunter, the beads are suppose to move to the point in the tire that is out of balance, not sure the actual technical specifications but I heard alot of 18 wheelers are using to balance those big tires. If you would like you can check it out at http://www.innovativebalancing.com. I will let you know what I find out. Ooh yeah, When do I get upgraded past Freshmen User
