Hey,
I have an '84 F150 I6 300, 4x4, wiht a carb. Well, In the mornings, or whenever the truck has been sitting for a good number of hours, when I start it up, a few minutes later, I'll get a spray on the concrete, or a big black circle on the carport wall where the exhast pipe is, for some reason, soot, or something like that is getting shot out of there. Its kinda annoying, not really hard to clean, but, its shouldnt be doing that. Any ideas, help, sugestiongs?
Thanks
Eric
Black is the truck running rich. It's blowing out probably because of the fast idle during warm-up. If it runs ok, I wouldn't worry about it, but you could spray some penetrating oil on the choke linkage, and make sure all your hoses lines are hooked up. As a last resort, you could loosen the round black choke housing and turn it a little to the "leaner" direction(it's marked on the side). Like I said though, if it's running and starting good, I would hesitate messing with the choke too much, since they are hard to get right anyway.
