Gear oil. I forget the weight. 80W-?. The info is in the owner's manuel in the specifications section. You can go to the Ford site to download manuel if you don't have one. If the front diff. is anything like my 02, you'll need a hand pump (suction) to get the old oil out and to put the new stuff in. It's sort of a pain to get to. The plug is half way up the diff case in a tough location to access. I used a 1/4" clear flexable tube with the suction pump and snaked it to the bottom of the case. Refill fill the same way until the new oil overflows the hole; car wants to be level. Good luck.

my manual says 80w-90 for the rear axle...
but the front axle has some special Ford Part Number??? I don't have posi in the front, so it shouldn't need Friction Modifier...
I'm going to go ahead and put 80w 90 in it I guess...
