i'm new to the painting scene and i need some help getting started with my gun and mixing paint. i really need to know how to set up a gun that has never sprayed before, mix the primer , make adjustments on the gun and clean everything up afterwards.
The paint mixing will be totally dependent on the product your using. Get the P-sheet from your paint supplier along with a few mixing cups/strainers/stirring sticks . The product sheets will give you your mixing ratios and the cups will be marked with pour lines. I'm sure the supplier will show you how to read the cup for the paint/primer your getting.
Well that sounds alittle on the small size even though I have been using a 30 gallon compressor to do spot repairs with not much problems. But if I were going to do a complete paint job it would probably run short on air volume. At least a 60 or 80 gal is recommended to supply the volume of air required to spray a complete paint.
So to at least be able to spray with your compressor you will need a LVLP gun or LOW VOLUME LOW PRESSURE gun. Sharpes new Finex guns work nice as does the Finishline 3 guns. Astro makes some nice guns which I have a couple of.
Also make sure to drain the tank and use as much moisture filtration as possible. I use one of those bulb filters between the hose and the gun.
