oil pressure

the oil pressure gauge on my truck is probably faulty. I know, the factory gauge is a dummy gauge. Sometimes it is past "R", I shut the truck, restart, Under "N", restart between "O" and "R". there is no knock or ping whatsover. Do you think it is a call for concern? It is the XLT Lariat and I don't want to put a mec gauge except if I don't have to.

thanks

those stock gauges canbe off. i would put a real guage in or at least check it with a real gauge. fords have low oil pressure at idle when they get miles on them but it doesnt take but 4-5 psi to keep it lubed at idle. if its quiet i think your problably fine and you might want to buy a new oil sender, but its always better to be safe.

Yeah mine used to be in the M-A range, but now it likes to hang out in the N-O range. It happened on a very cold day, freaked me out at first. It would gradually move up into the R-M range as I drove it, but the last few times I drive it it stayed in the N-O range.

Eventually I'll look into replacing the sender...

i know you said you did not want a mechanical gage(i assume you want the dash to look stock)you can allways put a splitter on the factory sender and mount the gage under the hood on the firewall or where ever you have enough room!thats what i do to all my cars, trucks!just a thought!!!!!
