Question Brake pad rubbing

I have a 1988 Clubwagon and one of the front brakes keeps sticking. It happens when you press the brake, it doesn't fully release. You can hear it rubbing against the rotor. Usually if I tap the brakes it will release again. Does anybody what could be causing this? I made sure to grease where the pads slide on the rotor assembly, but it didn't help?

Replace the calipers (both) or rebuild the pistons.

If it is just one side on the front, trouble shoot it this way.
Drive it till it starts to drag. Jack it up, try spinning the wheel then crack the bleeder open to release the pressure and spin the wheel.

If the wheel spins freely it is a hydraulic problem.
A: a crushed or twisted steel brake line. Inspect and replace as needed.
B: a brake hose that is collapsing on the inside acting as a check valve. Replace.

If the wheel still drags it is a mechanical problem.
A: Rusted/frozen caliper pins. Clean, lubricate, or replace if neccesary.(the caliper should move freely in and out,try it with the caliper installed but no pads)
B: Rusted/frozen piston in the caliper. ( piston should retract slightly when brake pressure is released. again the caliper should be able to move in and out but to a lesser extent.) Rebuild or replace.
C: Warped rotor/excessive runout. Replace rotor.

good luck
