Everything I read here says install your pyrometer probe before the turbo to get the most accurate reading. My friend was a diesel mech and said they always put them post turbo on the big rigs because if the probe separated it goes through the turbo and trashes it. Any opinions in that regard?
I am not doubting anyones word here, I just want to hear any personal experiences pro or con to the argument. I am saving for guages now and plan to have them installed by mid-spring.

Reason: typo
I undrstand that. I know this guy professionally and he tends to have an opinion on everything. He is usually pretty accurate, but doesn't like to be questioned or corrected. When I said everything I saw says to put it pre-turbo he said their shop saw one that was a pre-turbo install and the probe just obliterated the turbo when it broke loose.
When I do it, I will go pre- to get the most accurate readings.
