I went to the junk yard today in search of a gas tank, all I found was a 1978 bronco and I need a gas tank for my 1976 pickup. Are these interchangable? They seem to look the same. I was also looking at the radiator support and front grill are they the same, only difference I seen was my truck has the round lights and the bronco has the Rectangular ones. Thanks Ryan
The Broncos have a 38 Gallon tank, where the pickups only have a 15/16 gallon tank. I think they will work, but you will need to fabricate longer straps to go around the bigger tank.
i believe that the front ends are the same but the fuel tanks should be different, so like matts72 said, it should work, but fabrication will be necessary. also since the tank is from a different year, there is probably an emisions one way valve on top of the tank so you'll have to figure out what you want to do with it. good luck
Anyone know any other types of gas tanks that will fit, I am having trouble finding a 1970 model ford, the tank itself it just basically square but has alot of rust and holes in it. Hopefully I can find something similar to it maybe even a plastic one. I dont have the money to buy a new one though. So what other types of trucks would possible work?
Call around to a couple radiator shops in your area and see what they can do. I had my gas tank coated on the insode with POR 15 rust sealant, cost me like $30, and I got a drain valve installed.
No the trucks not 4x4, I took the tank out and its beyond repair, right now just so I can move it around I have a little gas tank hooked up, I went to the junkyard and looked around only to still find the bronco, so I just looked around more and then I looked under a ford van and to my amazemnent they look similar, there not the exact same but very similar in size, so would one outo f a van work or what other types of vehicles out there would I be able to take the tank out of.
Man Im starting to love the junkyards, when I was there I asked about elaf springs and they would only cost $80.00 for both, do you think I could put maybe like 3/4 ton leaf springs to make it a little stiffer or would they work.
I found out for sure the front end off that bronco would work its going to only cost $85.00 for the front end with radiator support.
Thnaks everyone for all the help eventually I am going to make it an every day driver.
