I almost have my install complete in my 2002 XLS, but need some information. Would someone be willing to remove their console to let me know how it is attached at the rear? I see the place for the one screw inside the garage door opener compartment, but don't see what it screws into. There doesn't seem to be a place on the bracket for the screw to go into. After you remove the screw, the console is held at the windshield by two clips that simply pop off. Thanks in advance!
i was thinking about installing an overhead compartment but i did not know that it had the screws and wiring already. If in fact it does have the wiring harnesses and holes could u please let me know . thanx in advance
The mounting holes are in the roof already. After I bought the console on eBay, I went to the dealer and ordered the bracket and the proper wiring harness. The plug for the wiring harness is in the drivers side A-pillar. My only problem was with the rear of the console. It appears to be attached with a screw and a nutplate, neither of which are shown on the parts diagram. I ended up fabricating something myself and it turned out great! Since the wiring harness had the wires for the lighted sun visor mirrors, I bought a pair of those on eBay also.
The bracket was $38, and the wiring harness was $68, but I needed the harness with the Homelink connector. The standard harness may be cheaper. The A-pillar is the pillar or beam that runs along the driver and passenger sides of the windshield. The grab handle is attached through the passenger side.
