I have an 04 that has a highpitched ringing noise when it gets really cold out, 10 degrees or colder. It comes and goes at intervals, doesn't do it any other time. I have turned everything off in the truck and it still does it. Dealer says it is in the radio, a fan to keep it cool even with the radio off. Anybody have this problem? It will do it just running in the driveway. You don't have to be going down the road.
I have heard this on mine, it seems though, that it does it as the thermostat is opening, if I give it some gas, it goes away. Also, my truck takes forever to fully warm up. 10 minutes of steady driving, seems alot.
Thanks for the info on the TSB I'll be taking it back to the dealer tomorrow and have him look it up for me. I'll bet I have to take it somewhere else, they don't seem very informed in Port Huron.
My friend's dad says the same thing. He lives in Port Huron but bought his truck in Richmond (I think it is Fred Grande Ford). I got mine at Russ Milne, haven't had to take it in yet but they seem pretty good. My sales man and the finance liason were great. Got a HUGE trade for my old truck too. Hopefully it keeps up.
You should take the TSB with you. If you can't get a copy of it, I can post it or send it to you. Good luck, let us know what happens.
I took it in today they can't find anything on the noise. They said the service number you gave me is for check engine light concern. If you can check it out again I would really appreciate it. Like I said before I'll be taking it to a different dealer if they can't help me. Thanks.
Frank, Sorry I have fat fingers the TSB is 17781. I can't post the tsb. I'd call them and give them the new number to try and save the trip. Once again, sorry for the typo.
Thanks for the info I'll call them the first of the week. My truck was built 08/04 but it does the same thing. If they won't try the stop-leak I think I'll just buy it and do it myself.

Shows Jr from the side. You can see the round hole in the fender inner for the old intake.
I removed my headlamp so you all could see the large opening behind it (just right of the bolt with the large washer). The black filling the hole in the rad support structure is the opening of the Jr. I laid the stock tube on the engine compartment for comparison of the opening area between the 2.
I forgot to mention, there is some extra noise from the Jr. sounds like >GULP, GULP< JK sounds like wind noise when you give it gas...nothing horrible.
