Throttle Position Sensor!
I am trying to smog '86' Ranger with 2.3 litter 4cyl. I purchased code reader
receiving on demand service code 23 and continuous code 31. I am going to remove the EGR Valve and clean it to see if that well solve the code 31.
I have tested the throttle position sensor with digital ohm meter as instructed in Chilton ranger repair manual. Appears ok. Need to find out how or where to obtain "break out box" to connect to the PCM to check voltage or is there another way to test voltage.
Any help would be appreciated

They are expensive, about $500.00 min. For a single use now and then I use a stright pin on the wiring after it comes out of the connector for measurements. If it makes you feel better use a spot of rtv to fill the pin ***** in the wire.
ps: most of the throttle position problems I have been, were mechenical sticking problems, not to say they don't go bad though.
